Spring-cleaning is the New Year’s Resolution for your home. It’s best to tackle such a large problem in small pieces or, even better, throughout the year. Try these tricks to make Spring-cleaning easier:
One of my personal favorite tricks for spring-cleaning my closet is the hanger trick. Take everything in your closet and hang it up backwards (with the curve of the hanger pointing towards you instead of away). Every time you wear a piece, flip the hanger back to the original way. At the end of the year, it’ll be easy to see what you’ve worn and what you haven’t.
One In One Out
If you’re someone who struggles with clutter, the One In One Out is a good rule of thumb. For every new item or group of items you bring home, discard one item.
Room by Room
This is exactly what it sounds like. Declutter and clean your house one room at a time. If you’re an avid Netflix user and have seen Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, her rule is that you can stand anything for 10 seconds. Sadly, cleaning takes a little longer than 10 seconds but one room is much less daunting that a whole house.
Write it Down
Schedule an hour a day for two weeks that you will dedicate to cleaning. If you can’t spare a whole hour: pick up the kitchen while food cooks, organize individual drawers during commercial breaks, or try cleaning the shower while you’re in the shower. ** Do not use cleaners with strong chemicals while showering. It’s best to use a homemade mixture of half dawn/half white vinegar. Tutorial here: http://fabulesslyfrugal.com/tub-shower-cleaner-picture-tutorial/
